The Efteling is the largest theme park in Holland and one of the oldest theme parks in the world. Efteling is located in Kaatsheuvel and it has received over 100 million visitors since the opening in 1952. The theme of the Efteling is fantasy. Attractions are based on fairy tales, myths and folklore.

Efteling history: Efteling Nature Park Foundation was founded in 1950 and named after a 16th century farm with the name Ersteling. In 1952 the Efteling opened when the Fairy Tale Forest was declared open. In the forest there were ten different fairy tales and it was an enormous success. Since 1978 the park expanded, got a resort, theatre, golf course and holiday village. The Efteling is one of the most popular theme parks in the world.

Efteling activities: There are four areas around the promenade Efteling Brink, which are Reizenrijk (Travel Realm), Marerijk (Fairy Realm), Ruigrijk (Rough Realm) and Anderrijk (Other Realm). The most famous attractions in the Efteling are the Fairy Tale Forest, Python (rollercoaster), Fata Morgana (boat ride) and The Flying Dutchman (water coaster). Of course there also are famous icons like Langnek and Holle Bolle Gijs. Since 2010 Efteling is open all year around, with a winter theme from November until February. Some rides are closed in winter because of maintenance.
